This app, the first of its kind, offers all Catholics the possibility of praying with the official prayer of the breviary (the Liturgy of the Hours), giving all the appropriate texts for the day in question. In addition, the app can be used to take part in the Mass; it contains the texts of the readings used during liturgical celebrations and, in its latest edition, the texts of the Augustinian liturgy.
iBreviary also has all the main Catholic prayers and everything to do with the rituals used by priests and laity in the celebration of weddings, funerals, the anointing of the sick, confessions, etc. With regard to the graphic display, the app is available in Italian as well as in English, and gives the option of praying in six different languages: Italian, English, French, Spanish, Romanian, and Latin (using the Vetus Ordo).
This version offers many new features: complete back-up for English, Spanish, Portuguese (for which the liturgical texts have already been inserted), German, and French, as well as the texts available in Latin and for the Vetus Ordo and the Ambrosian Rite (about to be completed). A new way of downloading the texts has been introduced, and this can now be done for successive days, even for an entire week, and in different languages.
Available for iOS, Android, Kindle, and Blackberry.
The app can be downloaded from Apple Store, Google Play Store, from Amazon for Kindle readers, and also for Blackberry.
iBreviary has already been downloaded more than 200,000 times, making it the most widely used app among the Catholic faithful, especially among priests, bishops, and the highest levels of the hierarchy. It has also been very favourably received by theVatican, and is now becoming an authentic cultural phenomenon, attracting the attention of television and newspapers throughout the world.
