Secretariat of Spirituality and Formation

The General Secretariat for Spirituality and Formation is one of the administrative bodies through which the General Government carries out its function of service to the Order in the animation of the spiritual life, the living of its own charism and initial and ongoing formation. In order to carry out its functions, the Secretariat is divided into four sections:

  • Initial Training Section
  • Continuing Education Section
  • Spirituality and Liturgy Section
  • Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity Section

Its main purpose is coordination, initiative and promotion. It is also responsible for the following functions:

a) To advise the Prior General and his Council in matters of Spirituality and Formation.

b) To watch over the fulfillment of the decisions regarding Spirituality and Formation contained in the Life and Mission Project of the Order 2016-2022.

c) To see to it that the directives of the sexennium are included in the programming of the provinces of the Order.

d) Suggest and support initiatives that strengthen our charismatic identity throughout the formation process.

e) Promote the formation and updating of formators according to the charismatic guidelines of the Formative Itinerary (IFAR).

f) To foster communication and collaboration with the other General Secretariats, the Provincial Secretariats of Spirituality and Formation and the Order’s Revitalization Team (ERO).
