A project born out of necessity

José María BernalAugustinian Recollect layman and delegate of ARCORES in Salamancaexplains the origin of Casa Talita:

“We detected that many young women, when they left the child protection centers upon reaching the age of majority, were left without a continuity resource. They needed a home, but also support in their training, their social and labor insertion.”

Thus, the idea of offering integral accompaniment to these young women: a place where they can live, train and rebuild their lives. Soon the Sisters of Sisters of Consolation and the Jesuitinassoon joined forces with the Consolation Sisters and the Jesuit Sisters, creating a joint project, solid and deeply ecclesial project..

Collaboration with the Diocese of Salamancawhich donated a house in a disinterested way, has made it possible for Casa Talita to become a living reality, uniting religious charisms and pastoral sensitivity. religious charisms and pastoral sensitivity in favor of the most vulnerable young women.

A shared commitment

Casa Talita is the result of the joint work of three religious charisms that have joined forces to respond to a real need.

In addition to this collaboration, there is the invaluable support of the Diocese of SalamancaThe Diocese of Salamanca, which has donated the house where the project is being carried out, in a gesture of ecclesial communion and pastoral generosity.

“It is a beautiful testimony of what we are capable of doing when we walk together”, they say.The promoting institutions say.

Talita kum: Get up!

The name of the house has a deep evangelical echo. Talitha kum, the words of Jesus to the daughter of Jairus (“Little girl, I say to you, arise”), summarizes the mission of this home: to help people get up, to accompany them with tenderness and decision.. As the coordinating team – made up of members of the three religious institutions – explains:

“We want to reach out to them so they can stand up, be autonomous and walk through life with dignity.”

The logo of the house, with four flames symbolizing the three congregations and the Diocese, in the form of a house and an upward arrow, expresses this mission of welcome and growth. The logo of the house, in the shape of a house with an arrow pointing upwards, expresses this mission of welcoming and growth.

A real opportunity for a new life

Casa Talita offers more than just a roof over your head: it offers training, emotional support, independent living skills and job preparation.. The aim is for the young women to not only have a place to live, but to be able to project their future with responsibility and hope.

“We don’t ask for anything in return. What we want is for them to take advantage of this opportunity, for them to see that they are not alone and that their lives can be different,” they explain. The project explains.

The model is clear: to accompany in the shadows, without protagonism, but with constant presence, so that they can be the protagonists of their own emancipation process..

The Church that accompanies and uplifts

Casa Talita is a concrete concrete manifestation of evangelical charity. and the potential for ecclesial collaboration. A sign that when the Church walks together, hope becomes home.
