The prior general, Javier Guerra, has already made known the starting date of the General Chapter. It will open on 4th October 2010 in the Monastery of Our Lady of Good Counsel in Monachil, Granada, Spain.
Given the importance of the general chapter for the life and mission of the Order the preparations begin early. From 21st to 29th October a preparatory commission met in Rome. This was made up of one religious from each of the eight provinces found throughout the world. The following religious made up the commission: José Manuel González (St. Nicholas of Tolentino), José Uriel Patiño (Our Lady of the Candelaria), José María Sánchez (St. Thomas of Villanueva), Eliseo González (St. Augustine), Enrique Gómez (St. Joseph), Marcus Vinicius Dorrigo (St. Rita of Cascia), Felipe Sada (Our Lady of Consolation ), Dionisio Q. Selma (St. Ezequiel Moreno).
The present Prior General, Javier Guerra, handed over a written study of the state of the Order approved by his Council. Ten months before the Chapter the said commission will send to each province Fr. General’s report together with the suggestions they believe will be helpful. The commission has prepared a questionnaire to be used to gather the opinion of the religious and to direct their minds towards the general chapter.
The religious of the Order can make any proposals either individually or as a group on what they deem useful or necessary. Proposals and suggestions have to be sent to the commission before the 1st April 2010. They will then dutifully examine and put into order the said suggestions and wishes. Three months before the chapter begins they will present a written resume to the general council. All the material received will be handed over to the council who will in turn hand it over at the General Chapter.
