God arranged and created all things: Some he endowed with sense, understanding and immortality, as the angels; to others he gave sense and understanding with mortality, as men; others, physical sense, but not understanding nor immortality, as the animals; to others he did not give sense, neither understanding nor immortality, as the plants, the trees, the stones; but even these cannot fail in its kind, and he arranged universe by ranks, from the earth to the sky, from visible to invisible, from mortals to immortals.
