The first temptation is mistake and hunger for the word, the second is the struggle of overcoming the inordinate passions (desire); third is fatigue and weariness (lassitude), fourth the attacks and difficulties in governing the church; in all of these there is praise, freedom and proclamation of God’s mercy.
