He became a noted popular preacher and lived a life of deep prayer and penance. He died on 18th May, 1369. His cult was confirmed by Pope Leo XIII in 1893.

William was born around 1300 in Toulouse and joined the Augustinians there at a time of rapid growth of the Order through southern France.
