Commemoration of the deceased benefactors of the Order

The Constitutions of Regensburg of the year 1290 prescribed the commemoration of deceased benefactors, in order to remember before the Lord those who in various ways had helped the Order in its charitable works, and activities. Until 1672 the commemoration was joined to that of the deceased relatives of the Order, but in that year there was created a specific commemoration for deceased benefactors, which was to be celebrated on 7th July, while that of deceased religious was transferred from 7th July to 14th November. Pius X transferred it to 8th July, and the reform of 1975, to 10th October. Since 2002 it has been celebrated on 13th October.
