The Augustinian Recollection appeared as a way of understanding the Augustinian way of life and puts its roots down in the Tridentine reforms and in the deep felt desire to lead a more perfect life. Between 1540 and 1588 there appeared among the Spanish Augustinians some religious who wanted to bring into the order the ideals that were transforming the spiritual and institutional structures of other orders.
