On the occasion of the Augustinian Recollect Vocation Year(AVAR) 2008 and to deepen the vocation of the laymembers, a IV national reunion of secular augustinian recollect was held at Franca, Brazil. They had as a theme: "the vocation of a secular augustinian recollect". Three days of profound study, reflection, prayer, fraternal union were devoted to this gathering.
The gathering was held from november 14 to 16 in Sítio Arca da Aliança of Franca. The participants numbered around seventy coming from the different fraternity chapters such as São José de Ribeirao Preto Parish, Nossa Senhora de Lourdes and Nossa Senhora da Saúde of São Paulo Parish, São Januário and Santa Mônica Parish of Rio de Janeiro and from the “Capelinha” of Franca.
The reunion was under the supervision of Alcimir Fioresi. Various Augustinian Recollect religious were invited to expound on several topics. José Mason talked on "vocation and being a secular augustinian recollect today". Benjamín Remiro shared what is "secular augustinian fraternity", while Fabio Freire elaborated the "augustinian spirituality". Sergio Peres on his part discussed something on "apostolate".
On Saturday evening a good number of persons came to participate in the Celebration of the Light (Via Lucis). The reunion culminated on Sunday with a eucharistic celebration presided by the prior provincial Francisco Sevolani Botacin. He emphasized the importance of the secular fraternity in the Order.
