A Journalist goes to the Novitiate

It is not common that a religious community opens its doors to five visitors loaded with cameras, lights, microphones and monitors. Much less when, it involves is novitiate community where a climate of recollection, prayer and reflection is fostered to help the young in their vocation. But the Augustinian Recollects have deemed it opportune to share their life with the Televisión Española viewers and, I am sure of it, they got it completely right.

In early October we arrived at the convent, the five professionals responsible for capturing images and sounds to tell the novitiate after hearing of the People of God. For two days we have lived intensely the concerns of 13 young people from six countries of different cultures, languages with very different philosophies and different. What can never be captured by the camera is the hospitality that we felt for two days that we spent in the convent, the generosity that they showed, the affection that we felt, the understanding of ‘our work,’ which is not easy to comprehend.
