Saint Augustine monk and his influence in the religious life in the Western World

Often we can find studies of Saint Augustine as holy father, bishop or pastor, but frequently is forgotten that he was a monk, and the monasticism had very much to do in his conversion. Angel Martínez Cuesta writes about this subject from an historical perspective in this article published in the CONFER Review in 1987. This article can be found too in the book “Augustinian Recollects: History and Spirituality” (ed. Avgvstinus) Rome 2007, 11-49.
