The celebration of the Eucharist was presided by the Archbishop of Granada, Archbishop Francisco Javier Martínez, accompanied by many celebrants, including the newly elected Prior General of the Order, Fr. Miguel Miró, the Provincial Prior, Fr. Miguel Angel Hernandez, and the Prior of the community of Hospitalicos, Fr. José Luis Lacalle.
Many of the religious communities in Granada, secular fraternity members, friends and acquaintances of the district, those responsible for the restoration all came together in prayer to thank God for the result of months of work.
Service since 1899
In February 1899 our Recollect fathers arrived at the old Hospital of Corpus Christi, located in Elvira Street, which belonged for centuries to the Fraternity of Peace and Charity.
Since the beginning of the foundation settled there have been several such institutions, purely devotional Augustinian spirituality, such as the Confraternity of Consolation and the Holy Cinture, the Fraternity of Santa Rita de Casia, the Talleres Santa Rita and the Pious Union of St. Nicholas of Tolentino.
Also, since the arrival of the Recollects in Hospitalicos there has been growth in the sacramental apostolate with the cult of benediction playing a large part, not to mention the preaching, in the church, as in other parishes and villages.
Hospitals church has had a make-over and will continue to remain in faith and apostolic service in the heart of the city of Granada.
