The Augustinian Lecture wanted to call the attention on the social work that the Augustinian family is realizing far and wide through their institutions. This attempts to lay the foundation of the way to obtain a greater solidity and commitment in the future. The objective of this 18th edition of the “Augustinian Lecture on Education” has been the social work and the solidarity of the religious, who live the charism of Saint Augustine.
The General Councilor of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, Jose Maria Sanchez, has been given the task of opening the gathering. Among the different speakers who offered their knowledge and experiences to some 500 professors, was the Augustinian Recollect Jose Maria Aguerri, who spoke about “The new destitutions and the response of the Augustinian school.”
The Sunday Eucharist was presided by another Augustinian Recollect, Manuel Beaumont, prior provincial of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation present in Spain, Panama, Dominican Republic and Guatemala.
The superior of the Matritense province of the Augustinians, Miguel Angel Orcasitas, was given the charge of the closing of the 18the edition of the Augustinian lecture on Education.
Each year, the Augustinian Lecture assumes a great opportunity so that the teachers from different origins share formative experiences. The Augustinian family in Spain runs 51 centers of education in which hundreds of religious with the laity work, who day after day, are committed to justice and solidarity in favor of the Spanish society.
