A relic of St. Ezekiel Moreno has been placed in the altar stone of the “new” Cathedral of Tarazona

Wednesday in holy week saw a historic occasion in Tarazona which is an episcopal see that dates from the fifth century. About five hundred people attended the celebration presided over by the Augustinian Recollect Bishop, Monsignor Eusebio Hernández Sola. In his sermon he told the congretation, "I feel very fortunate to be able to welcome you, I who have just recently been appointed to monumental city and this beautiful cathedral. We are experiencing significant and important times for Tarazona, throughout the Diocese and the region of Aragon, as this cathedral is a treasure, a jewel of architecture, painting and art, the result of deep faith and spiritual sensitivity and exquisite artistry."

The Bishop proceeded to the place the relic of St. Ezekiel Moreno into a slot cut in the new marble top of the altar. This relic is a piece of bone which the new Bishop requested from and which was granted by the Prior General of the Order, Fr. Miguel Miró. The Augustinian Recollects want to underline their special historical ties that bind the Order, St Ezekiel and the Diocese of Tarazona. The Priory of Monteagudo, the mother house of the Augustinian Recollects, belonged to this diocese decades ago and is the place where St. Ezekiel Moreno died and lies buried
