The Prior General invites everyone to live and to transmit the hope and joy of Christmas

The full text of the Christmas message of Miguel Miró, Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects is as follows:

Christmas 2011

I invite you to find silence deep in your heart, to listen to God, who in his mystery is love, the Word that reaches the heart, now as we celebrate Christmas.

Let’s look up at the sky and see the star that shines and gives light to our road. Let’s experience love and peace, contemplating with faith, God become child in Bethlehem: The child that is in the manger, near Mary and Joseph.

This mystery of love reaches all the world’s peoples. It is a love that at Christmas becomes prayer, friendship, brotherhood and wishes of peace.

On Earth hope has begun to shine, says St. Augustine. God has become man so that men can share the life of God.

Let the voices of Earth join those of heaven singing “Glory to God in heaven and peace on Earth.”

The Augustinian Recollects invite you to live and transmit the hope and joy of Christmas.

Let us offer our generosity and solidarity to the poor, to those who are suffering and to those who are in need.

Let us allow a prayer, a friendly smile and a wish for peace spring forth from inside us.

From Bacolod, the Philippines, I wish all of you and your families a Merry Christmas.
