The Augustinian Recollects of the Brazilian Province, gathered in a Chapter, plan their renewal and restructuring

Last January 9, the 15th Chapter of the Province of Saint Rita of Cascia has begun in Franca (São Paulo). There are 21 representatives of the religious of the Province, who take part in the Chapter, presided by the Prior General, Miguel Miró. Their task is to review the progress of the Province for the last four years, to study its current state and to draw out plans for the immediate future. The underlying principle of all their works and ordinances will be the renewal and restructuring that the Order, as such, undertakes.

Among others, the Chapter has also the task of electing the new provincial. With the new amendments of the Constitutions, the Chapter is to choose one of the two possibilities of electing the new provincial: to elect one of the ternary, or to confirm the religious whom the friars voted for previously.

The Province of Saint Rita is composed of 60 religious, who are distributed in 10 communities in Brazil, which are mostly parishes. One can follow the progress of the said Chapter on this webpage:
