Colegio San Agustin de Madrid was the venue of the 19th conference sponsored by the FAE and held from January 21 to 22 with the theme, “Challenges and Possibilities of New Technologies in Augustinian Schools”. Discussed were topics related to social networking, recreations for the young, the impact of the means of communication in the school, and the protocols for the use of the Internet.
The list of speakers included public personalities like the athlete, Marta Dominguez, and the TVE (Spanish Television) sports journalist, Jesús Álvarez. They spoke about the benefits and the abuses of social networking. The theme of the conference was elaborated from different perspectives and points of view: journalist, sports, educational and the youth.
The movie director, Peio Sánchez, presented the seventh art as “threshold” pedagogy. He showed how the method of movie making embraces the spiritual dimension and leads the youth closer to the religious. José María de Moya, in-charge of the publishing company, Siena, in his talk on “The Interactive Generation in Spain”, discussed the influence of television, the irresponsible use of the means and the multiple opportunities in social communications.
The program of the FAE, which was founded 19 years ago, has two objectives. First, to offer integral formation to educators and parents who play their role in Augustinian schools; second, to provide a place of encounter and venue where Augustinian school teachers in Spain can share experiences.
