On December 16th the Costa Rican Chamber of Construction, in conjunction with Southern Paintings (Pinturas Sur), launched a competition, through social networking, which allowed the general public to portray a picture of a Costa Rican institution of social order. The institution that received the most “I like”, and then passed the evaluation of a jury, would win an award to the value of $ 10,000. Second place would win $ 6000, and $4000 to the third.
Mobilization to win votes
As soon as the event was convened, the Friends of the Boy’s Town (C.R.C.) with Maria Eugenia Gutierrez Trujillo as the main promoter, moved to get the most votes. A group of young Augustinian Recollects called (J.A.R.), the seminarians of the Formation House of St. Ezekiel Moreno, despite being on holidays, the Secular Fraternity and many other friends, worked hard to get the most support to win the prize.
Through a lot of hard work for six weeks saw that the C,R,C, (Boy’s Town) did reach a majority vote, against 24 other institutions. The “I Like” in favour of Boy’s Town were around 1321, against the 912 of the second. Subsequently, a jury visited the six institutions with most scores and finally at 12 pm on January 31, announce Boy’s Town as the winner. A proud moment the Augustinian Recollects who for almost half a century have cared for the children of Boy’s Town.
