Radio-broadcast Life of Saint Augustine in 52 Episodes Enters Recording Phase

The Mexican journalist Tere García, a Secular Augustinian Recollect, has translated Saint Augustine’s Confessions into a radio drama of 52 episodes. She composed the text with the expert help of Father Enrique Equiarte, an Augustinian Recollect well known as a scholar of Augustinology and as the editor of the journal Avgvstinvs.

The language that composes the drama is that of the dialogues and conversations and situations throughout the life of the Saint of Hippo in Tagaste, Carthage, and Milan, in the company of his family, his friends, his mistress, his son, the religious sects of his era, and the converted Christians that played a historic part in the complex life of Augustine.

The series attempts to place the hearer in a fraternal atmosphere in which Augustine and his best friends live community life while they form their followers in true freedom, in humility, and in love.

The radio-broadcast biography came about at the request of the Augustinian Recollects, who registered the work in the name of the Order in the Mexican copyright office in 2011. At the beginning of this year, the “Foundation for the Promotion of Altruism” began recording the 56 professional actors who will represent the various characters, under the direction of Eduardo Barreda Castorena, and with Rafael Melgar Álvarez as producer.
