This is published as part of the collection “íntimo” of Editorial San Pablo. This new work of the present master of novices for Spain includes songs and musical arrangements of Juan Cerro, who has worked already, among others, with Alejandro Sanz, Pastora Soler, Rosana, Paloma San Basilio or José Luis Perales.
Durán chose the texts and composed its melody: “I wanted to help people to appreciate the depth of a spiritual master like Saint Augustine and that of the charism that is nourished by his person; upon composing the themes, I have thought of the spiritual benefit that can lead any person to bring himself close to the figure of Saint Augustine,” the author says.
Durán pointed out: “I feel satisfied because, once again, I was able to come closer to Saint Augustine in order to offer him through music; gratitude for the support and encouragement that so many persons – religious and lay—give me so that I may continue singing and composing. I have thought specially of the secular fraternities and youth groups linked in one way or the other to the great Augustinian family.”
Editorial san Pablo requested the Recollect singer-composer for this new work in view of the collection “íntimo”, whose objective is to bring close to the public in a musical form the texts of the most important figures of Christian spirituality and this collection has already dedicated discs to Saint Paul, Francis of Assisi, Ignatius of Loyola, John of the Cross and, now, with this new contribution, to Augustine of Hippo.
“Agustín íntimo” follows the theme of the previous disk, Confieso tu amor (Manantial 2006). Nevertheless, in his wide discography of six discs, the Recollect Singer-composer has put into music themes like the pilgrimage in Camino de Santiago (EDIBESA 1999), the Eucharist in Quédate (Paulinas-Colombia 2008), the faith in the Resurrected One in Vendremos a Él (EDIBESA 2000) and the Marian spirituality in Madre del Silencio (Paulinas.Colombia 2003).
