The Augustinian Recollects launch a publicity campaign to promote their way of life

“Our mission includes a great variety of apostolates: Parish ministry, Cursillo movement and retreats. All these enrich our community and the people of God whom we serve,” says the text of the publicity that the religious have placed in “Catholic New York” (New York), “The Catholic Advocate” (Newark), “The Tidings” (Los Angeles) and other weekly publications like “The National Catholic Register,” “Our Sunday Visitor” and “Vida Nueva.”

The candidates who read the publicity are provided with two contact details for the east and west coasts respectively: Suffern (New York) and Oxnard (California). In both Augustinian Recollect monasteries, the vocation promoters assign to each candidate a vocation guide with whom he is guided in the process of vocation discernment.

The Augustinian Recollects gather the candidates one weekend every month in order that they may have an experience of religious life in some of their communities. The Recollect province of Saint Augustine has a vocation promoter for the whole country, with whom six local vocation guide collaborate. This team is in-charge of preparing materials and distributing them to primary and secondary schools, and universities. Likewise, they upload these materials on their official website: augustinianrecollects.us.

The North American province of Saint Augustine has 50 religious with nine communities in the United States and a parish in the City of Mexico (Mexico). Most of them are Anglo-saxon. Their principal concern is pastoral ministry with Hispanic migrants.
