Social services of the Augustinian Recllects in Caracas

En the La Pastora and El Polvorín sections of Caracas, the capital of Venezuela, the Augustinian Recollects manage a “Saint Jude Thaddæus Social Center,” where they attend to the basic needs of the poor with a soup kitchen, a clothing distribution center, a medical dispensary, and a small school for the most disadvantaged people of the neighborhood. The community center has begun to build on a second floor, where it will offer classes to women and adults. A basketball school for children is still another program in the planning stage.
