The 55th General Chapter of the Order of Augustinian Recollects opens

The 55th General Chapter of the Order of Augustinian Recollects began with the solemn singing of Veni Creator Spiritus at the Chapter Hall. This was immediately followed by the Prior General’s summative report on the development of the Order starting from the last General Chapter, the itinerary followed and the evaluation of the projects of revitalization and restructuring.
The major authority also insisted on the responsibility of all the delegates to the General Chapter in matters concerning the life of the Order and the Church. He asked them to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit, the only one who gives the gift of discernment as we read the signs of the times. With Pope Francis as model, the Prior General invited the Chapter Friars to speak freely of things that build and not of those that destroy.
