In the afternoon of October 24 and guided by a common sentiment, the 55th General Chapter of the Order of Augustinian Recollects approved the internal restructuring of the Institute. In order to achieve an authentic Augustinian Recollect life, to foster fraternal life in common, and be fully committed to the mission entrusted to her by the Church and be present in places where they are most needed, the LV General Chapter re-organized the Order into four Provinces:
- Unite the Province of San AgustÃn to the Province of San Nicolás de Tolentino.
- Unite the Province of Nuestra Señora de la Consolación to the Province of Nuestra Señora de la Candelaria.
- Unite the Provinces of San José and Santa Rita de Casia to the Province of Santo Tomás de Villanueva.
- Maintain the Province of San Ezequiel Moreno, expanding its presence to new territories in Asia.
At the end of the voting, and after detailing the requirements for the process of realizing the Chapter decisions, aware at the same time of the significance of the project that will hasten the progress of the Order, and trusting on the cooperation of all, a big round of applause concluded the session.
