One of the decisions of the 55th General Chapter of the Order was to restructure the Secretariats and agencies of the Order, seeking in them more dynamism and effectiveness. At the head of each of them is a general counselor who, together with an international team, coordinates the specific area entrusted.
The Secretariat for Spirituality and Formation, entrusted to Fr. Francisco Javier Monroy, is divided into four sections: initial formation, ongoing formation, spirituality and liturgy, and Augustinian Recollect lay fraternity.
The Secretariat of the Apostolate, coordinated by Fr. Raúl Buahy, has three sections: ministerial apostolate, missionary apostolate and educational apostolate. Due to the wide educational presence of the Order in the world of education, this section is entrusted to Fr. Antonio Carrón.
The Secretariat for Vocations and Youth, headed by Fr. Juan Pablo MartÃnez, has two sections: vocation ministry and Augustinian Recollect youths.
In addition to the secretariats, the 55th General Chapter established the creation of two commissions in charge of the social apostolate and the media and publications. The coordinator of both is Fr. Antonio Carrón.
Other important bodies in the Order, entrusted to Fr. José Ramón Pérez (vicar and general treasurer), are the Economic and Heritage Council, and the Institutes of the Order: the Institute of Spirituality and History and the Institute of Agustinology.
Fr. Gabriel Robles has been appointed to practice as procurator before the Holy See and postulator for the causes of canonization. Fr. Javier Tello, general secretary, works closely with the general councilors in the performance of their duties.
According to the Constitutions of the Order, the general councilors assist the prior general in the government of the Order. All together they are interpreters and faithful executors of the Constitutions, the Additional Code and the ordinations of the General Chapter. All of them live in Rome and are in constant communication with each other to promote life and communion in the Order from the responsibilities entrusted to them.
Each of the secretariats and commissions has already presented a schedule of meetings for the coming months that will seek, among other things, to facilitate and streamline the process of union of provinces and the different ministries of the Order.
