Two new religious in the Order

On August 5, the first Vespers of the Transfiguration, in the formation house of Monteagudo (Navarra), two young Augustinian Recollect novices, Pedro Luis Marte of the Dominican Republic, and Alejandro Juan VƔsquez of Guatemala, Both of the Province of Our Lady of Consolation, made their simple profession.

Determined to consecrate their lives to God and to the Order of Augustinian Recollects, aware that it is God who has called them and wants to show them his glory, John and Peter were preparing to celebrate their simple vows. They want to love, serve and live in chastity, poverty and obedience knowing that it is not easy, but putting their trust in the Lord.

The celebration was presided over by the Prior General of the Order, Miguel MirĆ³ MirĆ³, who gave thanks to God because he continues to call young people to announce the Gospel and emphasize the vitality of the Order and the action of the spirit that continues to move the Order to follow to Jesus more closely.

Recalling the words of our Augustine in his commentary on the Gospel of the Transfiguration (sermon 78), Br. Miguel, I exhort you to descend. Going up the mountain meant leaving behind many things, so that you could see them from another perspective. To go up implies effort, but it is also an encounter with the Lord, who tells us “this is my beloved son, listen to him.” It is to open the heart, to receive the strength of the spirit. Now it is time to descend, we can not always continue in the novitiate, now we must descend not to seek the same, but the common. As Pope Francis told us, it is time to be creators of communion wherever we may be.
