Peru celebrates San Agustín with the new Augustinian Recollect priests

César Irigoín and Augusto Uriarte received the priestly ordination in the parish of Santa Monica de Chota coinciding with the solemnity of San Agustín. The Eucharist was presided by the Augustinian Recollect Bishop. Fortunato Pablo Urcey.

The celebration of the feast of San Augustine offered the perfect occasion for the Augustinian Recollect César Irigoin and Augustus Uriarte to be definitively consecrated to the service of God as Augustinian Recollect priests. The religious youth received on August 28 the priestly ordination in the parish of Santa Monica de Chota, with the presence of dozens of religious and persons of the Order of Augustinian Recollects.

The Augustinian Recollect Bishop of Chota, Mons. Fortunato Pablo Urcey was charged with conferring the sacrament of ordination on deacons. The prelate was moved and exhorted the religious to be faithful pastors in the service of the people of God. During the ordination ceremony, the priests of both religious will be thrilled and pleased by their friends. Someone of them expressed it with tears.

In the Eucharist I was also present at the Prior Provincial of the Province of Saint Thomas of Villanueva, Miguel Angel Hernandez. Speaking to Santa Monica Radio, I said I was “thrilled and gratified because these young people consecrated themselves to Dios to serve and expand throughout the world the charism of the Augustinian Recollects. We were thrilled when young people like them surrendered to the grace service of Dios. Asimismo, les animó to be “worthy hijos of Agustín”.

It is worth noting the presence of members of the Fraternity of the Seglar Augustinian Recollect (FSAR) of Lima and Chiclayo, as well as the Agustino-Recollect Youth (JAR) of the noble Jesus of Jesus (Cajamarca), who have come to religious and wanted to be with them. .

Those of the new priests are Peruvian, of pueblos belonging to the Prelature of Chota and Cutervo. César Irigoín is from the province of Chota (Cajamarca), from the Snacks, which Augusto Uriarte is from the province of Cutervo, from Valle Grande, from the Ramada (Cajamarca).
