The religious was ordained priest in his native land, Caracas, accompanied by his family and the Augustinian Recollect friars.
The Order of Augustinian Recollects has a new priest since January 30. The Augustinian Recollect Freddy Humberto Daza Amaya, of Venezuelan origin, received his priestly ordination in the Parish Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, in Caracas. In a very warm, simple, recollect and God-filled celebration, the religious was ordained by the hands of the brother general of the Order, Cardinal Baltazar Porras, Archbishop of Merida and apostolic administrator of Caracas.
Besides the Cardinal, the celebration was also attended by Augustinian Recollect religious men and women, members of the FSAR, JAR and Madres Monica. The parents of the religious, friends and acquaintances, who had traveled from TƔchira and Caracas, also accompanied Freddy Humberto. The number of participants was limited due to the prevention measures against the coronavirus. The Augustinian Recollect Sisters of the Heart of Jesus were in charge of the singing, and the seminarians who were in Caracas served at the altar and throughout the ordination rite.
The close presence of the Lord in calling the new priest was felt at every moment. During the celebration the words of the psalmist were recalled: “You are a priest forever, mediator between God and men”. Freddy thanked the presence in the church and those who were connected in the social networks of the Vicariate and the Archdiocese of Caracas. The following day, January 31, the new priest presided his first solemn mass, in the church of St. Augustine, of the Augustinian Recollects in Caracas, Freddy Humberto Daza’s usual residence.
