56º Capítulo general | We're telling you

Logo and motto of the 56th General Chapter OAR

“We walk together. I have come that all may have life (cf. Jn 10:10)” is the motto chosen for the General Chapter that will begin on March 1, 2022.

The 56th General Chapter of the Order of Augustinian Recollects already has its official motto and logo. The Prior General has communicated the two elements that will identify the Chapter to be celebrated on March 1, 2022. Both have unity as the main idea, looking towards the future with hope.

The motto of the 50th General Chapter is “We walk together. I have come that all may have life (cf. Jn 10:10)”. On the one hand, it clearly defines the intention of moving forward with all religious. As Miguel Miro explained in his official communication, the objective is to transmit that the Augustinian Recollects “walk together, day by day, with the whole Church to transmit life and hope”. For this reason, the main motto is accompanied by a fragment of chapter 10 of the Gospel of St. John: “I have come that all may have life”.

The logo was created by the Augustinian Recollect Alberto Valecillos. According to the artist, the image is composed of four elements: people, horizon, stained glass and colors. The main figures that appear in the logo represent the unity that exists in the evangelizing work of the religious (yellow figure) with the laity, men and women (red and blue figures). It is the synodality that the Order seeks to strengthen.

The landscape that appears behind the figures symbolizes the hopeful future (represented by the green tonalities) to which the Order opens itself in the face of the new General Chapter. The stained glass composition refers to unity as the foundation of the Augustinian charism in order to have “one soul and one heart directed towards God”. Composed of many pieces of various dimensions that complement each other to generate a work. Finally, the colors in the logo represent the diversity that make up our ministries and communities.
