From April 17-21, the Prior General and his Council held their annual meeting with the four priors provincial, the first after the 56th General Chapter.
In a fraternal atmosphere of communion, the Prior General and his Council held their annual meeting from April 17-21 to discuss the progress of the Order. The major superiors, gathered at the General Curia in Rome, reviewed the development of the Life and Mission Project, one year after the celebration of the 56th General Chapter.
This was the first meeting for the Prior General and the four priors provincial after their election in 2022. Together with the General Council, they analyzed the work being carried out and how it is being perceived from the Provinces. During the five days they reviewed the objectives and decisions of the Life and Mission Project and its implementation so far.
The work done in the different areas of work of the Order was detailed one by one: formation, vocations, parishes, missions, EDUCAR, JAR and FSAR. Each of the presidents of the secretariats explained the work undertaken, according to the directives of the Life and Mission Project, and answered the questions of the priors provincial.
In the session on the work of the Augustinian Recollect International Solidarity Network ARCORES, the technical director, Javier Sanchez, was present. Together with the president of the Network, Fr. Jaazeal Jakosalem, they detailed the main advances and challenges for the social entity of the Order.
Daniel Medina, Dean of the Faculty of Canon Law of the Catholic University of Argentina, was also present during some of the sessions to advise the major superiors on the prevention and protection of minors and vulnerable persons.
Likewise, Bishop Luis Marin, undersecretary of the Synod of Bishops, also accompanied the Prior General and the priors provincial to discuss synodality and the service of government, one of the highlights of the meeting.
The meeting served not only to review the work accomplished, but also to reinforce the commitment to continue walking together, in communion and in the same direction.
