First Augustinian School of Leaders in Guatemala: “to be a paradigm of Augustinian values”

The First Augustinian School of Leaders (EAL) has opened its doors in Guatemala, with the purpose of sowing and strengthening Augustinian values in young people through self-knowledge, teamwork and personal leadership.

As explained by Guatemala’s national advisor JAR, Fr. Luis Alfredo FaguaThe EAL aims to form leaders who will be a paradigm of Augustinian values in their youth communities.
Also, that this initiative arises as a response to the rich cultural heritage of Guatemala, home of the Mayan civilization, and focuses on strengthening the identity of the new generations through the principles of St. Augustine.

In addition, Kevin Teatino, part of the EAL organizing team, explained that the importance of Augustinian leadership lies in the fact that the leader is formed in community, cultivating his interiority in order to project authentic leadership in his life and mission.

The Augustinian School of Leaders provides various formative spaces that range from interiority and Augustinian identity, to sports activities and leadership practices.
These spaces allow participants to identify and develop qualities and attitudes of an integral leader.
Through self-formation, teamwork and internal reflection, young people learn to lead not only their lives but also to positively influence their communities.

One of the participants, Brayan Hernandez, said that this school has given him helped me to overcome myself and to know myself more deeply.
The teachings and living with new companions have allowed me to learn new things and grow in my faith.

EAL focuses not only on developing leadership skills, but also on strengthening the faith and spiritual life of young people.
As Alejandro Sepúlveda, part of the EAL organizing team, points out, participants are guided to search within themselves, following the teaching of St. Augustine: Let us not seek outside what we have within us.

The Augustinian School of Leaders has been possible thanks to the support of the Augustinian University and the Augustinian Media Center (CAM), which have collaborated closely to provide these training spaces.
