The nuns of the Royal Convent of Santa Isabel, in the heart of Madrid, have started a new project: El Portalico.
Since this summer, these sisters have entered the world of sewing and make clothes for babies and household items.
As they themselves announce in their social networks, we are excited to share this challenge.
With our hands and a lot of faith, we are making table linens and baby clothes.
Each stitch is filled with our greatest devotion. .
As explained by the mother superior, the Sr. Maria TeresaThis initiative was born from the need to find new ways of working to complement the sale of sweets -a project they have also recently embarked on-, and so the idea of making clothes and 
other items by hand was born:we started training in May and, at the end of June, they helped us to open our social networks to make ourselves known.
In addition to baby clothes, they make placemats, coasters, bags and nursing tablecloths, among others: we also make very special clothes for the baby’s first outfit and, although we already have some pieces ready, we happily accept personalized orders, says the mother superior.
“We ask the child’s name and pray in a special way for him and his family.”
One of the most touching aspects of this project is that the sisters will pray for each baby throughout his or her life: We always ask for the name of the child who is going to wear the clothes, to write it on our prayer list and pray in a special way for him and his family.
