From February 23 to March 1, 45 Augustinian Recollect nuns of the Federation of Mexico gathered at the House of the Recollection in Ahuatepec, Cuernavaca (Mexico), to participate in a formative encounter with the presence of prioresses, formators and formandi from different communities. In addition, sisters from Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica and Lodwar (Kenya) joined the experience through virtual connection, strengthening the international unity of the Order.
The meeting was marked by moments of reflection and learning, guided by the Augustinian Recollect friars who accompanied the sisters with their knowledge and testimony of life. Fr. Refugio Escobar González offered a deep reading
of the document “The Service of Authority and Obedience”, highlighting the importance of listening and co-responsibility in community leadership.
“This service must be based on personal prayer and on the human dignity of each sister, thus fostering unity and fraternity,” the assistants shared.
On the other hand, the aspirants, postulants, novices and juniors participated in sessions led by Fr. Isaac Amaraz, who deepened in the following of Jesus Christ from the spirituality and the Augustinian Recollect charism. Manuel Antonio, vocation promoter of the Vicariate of Mexico-Costa Rica, reinforced the importance of working together as a religious family.
“We are called to strengthen vocation ministry in communion with friars, nuns and missionary sisters,” said the participants.
The meeting gave the sisters a renewed impetus to live their vocation with greater dedication, ensuring that the values of listening, dialogue and fraternity continue to guide their mission within the Church.
