Augustinian Recollect Nuns of Mexico meet to deepen vocational accompaniment

From March 31 to April 4, 2025, the Monastery of the Most Holy Trinity of the Augustinian Recollect Nuns in Tula, Hidalgo, was the venue for the Course for Vocation Animators, a key meeting to renew the commitment to vocation ministry within the Federation of Mexico.

The course was guided by the Augustinian Recollect friars Fr. Sergio Sanchez Moreno and Fr. Manuel Antonio Flores G., who offered profound teachings on vocational accompaniment and the charism of the Order.

The participating sisters experienced days of reflection, formation and fraternal communion, reaffirming the importance of their work as companions in the discernment process of young people.

“The course helped me to remember that I must first let myself be accompanied by God and by others, so that I too can accompany with coherence,” shared Sr. Maria del Rosario, from the Guadalajara community. “Fr. Sergio enlightened us by speaking to us about the need to recognize our own shadows, in order to be a light for others,” she added.

Among the outstanding topics, the concept of vocation ministry as a promotion of God’s love through the testimony of life was discussed in depth at. It was also emphasized that vocation is not a personal decision but a free gift in which God has the initiative.

“The one we follow is Jesus, and the one who follows Jesus is not distracted. That is the best testimony we can give,” Fr. Sergio emphasized during his speech.

Manuel Antonio spoke about the IVAR method (Augustinian Recollect Vocational Itinerary) -Root, Sow, Cultivate and Harvest- providing the animators with practical tools for the accompaniment of young people. ” He reminded us that rather than looking for immediate results, we should trust that God will give the fruits in due time,” said Sr. Leticia, from the community of Merida.

“It is a process where the companion is also a disciple on the way,” he said.

The meeting concluded with a Eucharist full of gratitude, in which the participants entrusted to God the fruits of the course and their mission as vocation animators. ” We take with us the commitment to continue being communities that attract by their witness of life, communities that make God’s love visible,” the religious shared in a joint message.

The Federation of Augustinian Recollect Nuns in Mexico continues to strengthen its commitment to the Church, sowing hope in the hearts of the youth and accompanying, with empathy and dedication, the discovery of God’s call.
