From June 22 to 24, the Prior General Fray Miguel Angel Hernandez visited the Augustinian Recollect community of Pueblo Libre in Lima. A visit full of hope, meetings with the JAR, FSAR and the educational community, where the restless heart was the common thread.

Encounter with a living community

On Sunday, June 23, the Prior General presided at the main Eucharist of the day at 12:00 noon in the church of St. Mary Magdalene Parish. In his homily he encouraged all those present to live with a restless heart, not to be conformed, and to let God continue to touch every corner of the soul.

Encounter with the Augustinian Recollect Youth, young people with an Augustinian heart

On Sunday afternoon, the official meeting with the Augustinian Recollect Youth (JAR) of Mary Magdalene took place. The young people offered an artistic and cultural tribute, with dances, songs and reflections prepared with enthusiasm.

Friar Miguel Ángel shared with them a pleasant and profound conversation. He encouraged them to live their faith in community, not to lose their first love, which is God, and that the RAY should always be spaces where respect, authenticity and shared life are breathed. “The things of God, if they are not cultivated, are extinguished. Therefore, we must renew our faith and love every day,” he told them.

Synodality, fraternity and educational mission

On Monday the 24th, the Prior General met with the Parish Council, stressing the importance of living in communion with the local Church, in a key of synodality, listening to the Spirit and walking together.

On Tuesday the 25th, he visited the Colegio Agustiniano San Martin de Porres, where he was warmly welcomed by the students, the academic, pastoral and working staff. The students offered artistic performances and the Prior General spoke with the teachers, encouraging them to continue forming children and young people with a restless heart that always seeks the Truth which is God.

In the evening, he closed his visit with a meeting with the members of the Secular Augustinian Recollect Fraternity (FSAR) of Pueblo Libre, where he shared words of gratitude and hope.

A community that walks together

The visit to the community of Pueblo Libre was a moment of grace that strengthened fraternal bonds and renewed missionary commitment. With simple gestures, shared prayers and much joy, the Prior General left a clear message: God continues to work wonders among his people. And he does so especially when hearts are open to walk together.
