ARCORES Caracas 2025 was much more than an English-teaching mission. It became a journey of faith, community, and personal transformation—for both those who served and those who were served.

A mission that went far beyond teaching

“I’m leaving with my heart stirred.” That’s how one young volunteer summed up her experience in the international volunteering program ARCORES Caracas 2025. She came with few expectations, a bit of fear, and a strong desire to learn from a new culture. What she found went far beyond what she imagined: community, generosity, and the living presence of faith.

The main mission was to support the emotional and academic development of children, especially in English, across three Augustinian Recollect schools in Caracas. But soon, the mission grew. The volunteers joined community soup kitchens, served in women’s shelters, visited centers for vulnerable families, and lived side by side with different religious communities.

Hospitality that breaks down fear

The experience began with uncertainty. Stories of power outages and economic hardship painted a complicated picture. But the reality they found was marked by hospitality, joy, and resilience.

“The welcome from the schools, the ARCORES team, and the sisters was exceptional,” she recalled. “We always felt supported—while teaching, while living in community, while sharing life.”

The most surprising discovery? “So many good people,” she said. People who dedicate time to helping others, who serve with passion, and who do it quietly, day after day.

When giving becomes a lesson

This time in Venezuela became a school of the heart. One of the biggest takeaways was seeing how people—even with little—share everything. Food, time, affection, prayers. “We often live for ourselves,” she admitted. “But here I’ve learned that it’s possible to give generously, even when life is hard.”

These simple acts of kindness became unforgettable lessons. “In the simplicity of everyday life, in small gestures, and through faith, everything changes,” she said.

Faith made visible in daily service

God’s presence wasn’t just felt in churches, but in people. In the communities. In the shared struggles. In the smiles of the children. Faith became visible, living, and concrete.

Serving became a prayer. A way to be present. A way to build hope. A way to live the Gospel with hands and heart.

A heart stirred, a life changed

As the experience came to a close, one phrase stayed with her: “God closes doors, but opens windows.”

This trip was one of those windows. A chance to discover another world. To grow. To love. To believe. “I take Venezuela with me,” she said. “It’s part of my heart now—stirred, full, changed.”
