A saint close to suffering
St. Ezekiel Moreno (1848-1906) was an Augustinian Recollect bishop, tireless missionary and dedicated pastor. His life was marked by his closeness to the poorest and sickest. In his last years, he personally suffered from cancer, an illness that he faced with unwavering faith and a spirit of abandonment to God.
For this reason, the Church recognizes him as patron saint of cancer patients. His testimony of serenity, confidence and strength in the face of pain continues to be a beacon for those who suffer from this disease and for their families.

The Virtual Prayer Center is not simply a website. It is a space of encounter with God and of closeness among brothers and sisters in faith. It is a reminder that, even at a distance, prayer can accompany, sustain and heal hearts.
St. Ezekiel Moreno taught us that faith does not eliminate pain, but it illuminates it.. His life and witness continue to inspire the Augustinian Recollect Order to keep this spiritual bridge active, offering the sick and their families the same consolation that he brought in life: the certainty that in the midst of trial, God is our refuge and our strength.
