Granada hosted a formation meeting of the Federation of Augustinian Recollect Nuns of Spain. Religious from different communities participated, sharing their faith, hope and the certainty that contemplative prayer is a way to bring peace to the world.
A formation that strengthens the contemplative life
Sister Blanca Estela shared the motivation for her participation: “Here to Granada I have come to take a course that the Federation of the Augustinian Recollect Nuns has invited all the communities and for formation.”. This meeting was planned as a space to grow together and to continue deepening the call to contemplation.
To love Christ and the charism more
Guadalupe, councilor of the federation and prioress of the Oviedo monastery, stressed the importance of the meeting in the current context:
“Now in these times we are asked to fall in love not only with Christ but also with our own charism, in order to bring more spirituality and more hope. It is not to return as we have come, but with a much greater love for our Order”.
Guadalupe also insisted on the commitment that the Augustinian Recollect Sisters have with the world:
“It is to make Christ known, so that people do not forget that there is a God who is waiting for us. Today’s world is full of wars, full of injustice and I believe that we, with our prayer, can bring the peace that the world needs so much”.
Young vocations, a sign of hope
The meeting was also an opportunity for the younger sisters to share their experience. Sister Maria Isabel, a novice, expressed her joy at participating in a common formation experience:
“It makes me very excited, very emotional because seeing so many young people who follow Christ is the best thing they have chosen in their lives”.
A call for conversion
Finally, Sister Guadalupe highlighted her deepest desire as an Augustinian Recollect nun:
“My greatest desire as an Augustinian Recollect nun is to have a true and sincere conversion like St. Augustine, to be able to interiorize, deepen and renew the love of Christ.”
This meeting in Granada has allowed the family of the Augustinian Recollect Nuns to grow in fraternity, to renew the strength of their vocation and to remind the world that, from the contemplative life, hope and peace are sown.
