The team of counselors of the EDUCAR Network in Spain launches the CUIDAR Plan, a training proposal for affective-relational development, which complements the Child Protection Plan, developed for years.
Guidance counselors from Recollect schools in Spain elaborate a common project of protection and coexistence that will be shared with Latin America.
The EDUCAR Network has taken a key step in the creation of safe and fraternal environments in their schools. Last October 24 and 25, the team of counselors of the Augustinian Recollect schools of Spain met in Madrid to work on the development of the Affective Relational Plan, a proposal that seeks to teach students, families and teachers to relate in an adequate, respectful and healthy way in the physical, emotional and social spheres.
This plan, within the framework of the Child Protection Plan, has been baptized as the CUIDAR Planacronym for “Care and Integration of Affective-Relational Development”. It is proposed as Workshop 0, i.e., the training base on which all the work of prevention, emotional education, accompaniment, good treatment and coexistence will be based.
A cross-cutting approach to the integral development of the student
“We have realized that the most important thing is prevention,” says Marta González, counselor at Colegio San Agustín in Valladolid. The key, she points out, is to create safe spaces where students can live together, express themselves and be heard.
Bárbara Mora, guidance counselor at Colegio Santo Tomás de Villanueva in Granada, explains that the CUIDAR Plan is structured in three interconnected areas: affective, emotional and relational education. ” It is about teaching our students, families and teachers how to relate properly,” she stresses. The initiative also addresses concerns such as the use of social networks, the impact of the Internet and the new realities that concern today’s society.
Towards a culture of care and co-responsibility
The team of counselors has established a timetable for the implementation of the plan: finalize the document in the first quarter of the school year; receive specialized training in the second quarter; and manage the teaching materials and resources in the third quarter.
In the words of Sergio Almenzar, coordinator of the EDUCAR Network Management Team in Spain, this project seeks to:
“Uniting coexistence rules, students’ concerns and social reality, to comprehensively address the protection of minors”.
An experience that crosses borders
During the meeting, there was also a live connection with counselors from Recollect schools in Latin America. It was the first step towards an international collaboration that will allow the CUIDAR Plan to be extended to the centers of other countries. To this end, a new online meeting has already been scheduled, with the aim of sharing experiences on coexistence and good treatment.
Friar Antonio Carrón, General Councilor and responsible for the area of Education, valued this dialogue as an opportunity to walk in educational synodality, reinforcing the common commitment to the well-being and integral development of the students.
