ARCORES Philippines has launched an extensive relief operation following the devastating passage of Typhoon Tino (Kalmaegi), which left heavy rains and severe flooding in Cebu, Negros and areas of Palawan, causing the collapse of communications and power lines. Early estimates of 150 fatalities could tragically rise to 500 as assessments continue, especially in Negros where access remains limited in severely affected areas such as Canlaon, San Carlos, La Castellana, Binalbagan and Hinigaran.

Cebu, already vulnerable after a recent earthquake and marked by mining and land reclamation projects, reports massive damage and the displacement of some 400,000 people. In response to this emergency, ARCORES Philippines responded immediately by setting up Recoletos de Balamban and Recoletos de Cebu as shelters and food distribution centers. Likewise, Recoletos de San Carlos continues to send food, water and emergency assistance to Canlaon.

With the “Tinabangay” initiative, scheduled for November 10, 2025, ARCORES will extend its support to the most affected communities of Canlaon in Negros Oriental. The solidarity network remains mobilized and firmly committed to accompany and support all the affected people.
