Prayer
Blessed art Thou, Lord Jesus, sent by the Father
to give us life,
feeding on the road
and keep us in unity.
May your Spirit inspire us in the stage we undertake,
to accompany us all in the preparation of the Chapter,
summoning us to your table every day.
May he give it to us:
eyes to see,
ears to listen,
an open and sensitive heart
to take care of the suffering,
needs and aspirations
of every man and woman.
And that, thus, all united,
walking together with you,
at all times let us sing the song of glory to the Father,
through you, his Son and our Lord,
in the Holy Spirit. Amen
Logo and slogan
The image, made by the Augustinian Recollect Alberto Valecillos, wants to show the synodality in the evangelizing mission. The composition in stained glass style refers to the unity of the Augustinian charism, made up of pieces of different dimensions that complement each other in order to have “one soul and one heart directed towards God”. The variety of colors shows the diversity of ministries, cultures and situations. The human figures represented by primary colors, which are the origin of the other shades, symbolize that religious and lay people walk together. The horizon expresses a hopeful future in view of the next General Chapter.
With the slogan “We walk together. I have come that all may have life (cf. Jn
10,10)” is intended to indicate the vital dynamism of the charism. The life that Christ infuses in us with his Spirit unites us in him and in his evangelizing mission. We walk together, day by day, with the whole Church to transmit life and hope.
What is a General Chapter?
The General Chapter is the supreme authority of the Order and must be a sign of unity in charity. There should be adequate representation of the entire Order.
His task is to examine the state of the Order, dealing with the most important matters, and the performance of the general government during the six-year period; to promote the union and collaboration of all the friars and provinces for the common good; to defend the patrimony of the Order and to promote the adequate renewal of the same; to review everything related to formation, to keep it always up to date, and to elect the prior general and the other members of his council.
