The Augustinian Recollect Formation Itinerary.
During the meeting, the formation process was evaluated, and the Augustinian Recollect Formation Itinerary (IFAR) was discussed. The foundational document Volved al Corazon (Go back to the heart) was taken on board, and the teaching materials that will assist in the implementation of the IFAR were completed.
IFAR does not replace the Studium Sapientae formation plan. It is a way of teaching, a way of learning, that helps to implement, to give life to, and to take on board what is put forward by the Plan of Formation and the Constitutions concerning formation. It is a way or model of formation that will offer to the young prospective vocations who knock on our doors the power to convert the Augustinian Recollect path into something of their own, a ‘flesh of their own flesh’.
New times, new ways
It is a new and different way, put forward two years ago for the whole Order, at the general meeting of formation personnel in Costa Rica. We were to think about it amongst ourselves, try it out, and in common begin to see its implementation in the various stages of formation. It aims to gradually bring the person in formation to a personal meeting with Christ, and to assume the same feelings as Christ from within the Recollect charism. It favours personal and community accompaniment, and the all-round formation of the candidates by various means: IFAR weeks, Augustinian experiences of god, retreats, workshops, a personal life plan, and personal work records.
Reflection and work done previously
Behind the documents and the materials drawn up lie the years of reflection and work that the formation personnel of the province of St Nicholas have been carrying out, work and reflection that will now continue in the formation houses of the Order, following on from the experience of putting it in to practice. It will then be improved, rounded off, and officially and finally approved.
An atmosphere of communion and of joy
During the final days of the meeting, certain problems and specific situations within the province were touched on, looking towards the provincial chapter which will take place in May. The meeting passed in an atmosphere of fraternal communion, and could always counted on the pleasant welcome received from the community of Fray Luis de Leon College and of St Pius X formation house.
