Consider just how a person loves; you can think of love as the hand of the soul. If by holding on to one thing , it can’t take hold of another. Whoever loves the world cannot love God; his hands are occupied. God says to him, take what I give you”, but, since he doesn’t want to give up what he has, he cannot accept what is offered.
