Love and love not, seek some things, avoid others. Love of some things benefits us, love of others hinders us. Do not love what hinders you if you want to avoid the torment. Attachment to the earthly impedes; it clips the spiritual wings, that is the virtues with which one flies to God. You don’t want to be caught and yet you love the clip? Or do you cease to be caught just because you allow yourself to be sweetly caught?
