Man, as such, is earthly and speaks of the things of earth; if he speaks of something divine, he is illumined by God. Not being so, earth would speak of the earthly. He speaks of human affairs, he understands human matters, he likes human things. As carnal, he makes carnal judgment; his conjectures are carnal. That is all of man.
