What is the JMJAR?

WYDWAR stands for World Augustinian Recollect Youth Day. It is the only meeting that brings together the Augustinian Recollect Youth (ARY) from all over the world. The JMJAR lasts approximately seven days. These are days of sharing, reflection and formation. During these days, young people from all over the world share their faith experiences, learn more about the faith in catechesis, celebrate their charism in Eucharistic celebrations and meet young people from other parts of the world. In addition to their own activities, young people participate in World Youth Day.

What are JARs?

The JAR are the Augustinian Recollect Youth. The JAR movement is a Catholic and international youth organization, framed within the structure of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, and present in many of the countries where the religious carry out their pastoral work. This movement arose from the desire of the Augustinian Recollects and the call of the Church to share their charism with young people, in order to help them in this way in their response to the call that God makes to every human being. The RAY youth meet periodically and participate in retreats and retreats where they strengthen their faith.

What is the relationship between WYDWAR and WYDW?

WYDWAR takes place in the prelude to WYD. Participation in WYDAR includes participation in WYD. This is for two reasons: first, to serve as a preparation for WYD. In addition, it was originally thought to be an opportunity to link the two activities in order to build on the momentum of WYD and create unity among RAY members from around the world.

When will the WYDDAR be held?

It is held every three years, coinciding with World Youth Day. However, on this occasion, four years have passed since the celebration of WYD 2022 was postponed to 2022 by COVID-19.

What will the 2023 edition be like?

The V JMJAR 2023 will take place from July 28 to 31 at the Augustinian Residence in Salamanca (Spain). Young people from all over the world will gather there. In addition, the first Augustinian Recollect Youth Synod will be held in the days leading up to WYRDAR, in which the future of the Augustinian Recollect Youth and the path to be followed by the Augustinian Recollect youth will be discussed.
