The Province had an unlikely origin. For some years the Order had been talking about creating another Province. All rumors. In 1938 it came about with the support of Bishop Hildebrando Antoniutti, the papal delegate to the Franco government and President of the Chapter. The chapter fathers approved the idea and proposed the creation of another Province with the houses St. Nicholas had in Venezuela and Peru.
