The bishop of the diocese of Palencia, José Ignacio Munilla Aguirre, has presided last June 6, the Eucharist, celebrated in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Expectación of the convent of the Augustinian Recollect nuns (more known in Palencia as the “Chapel of Saint Rita”), now open for public worship after four months of restoration: new pavement, repair and painting of walls and vault. The heating system was given attention as well. Other restorations are foreseen that would incur a total cost of 200,000 euros.
Both the Church and the convent of the Augustinian Recollect nuns (a community composed of eight nuns and a postulant) were constructed at the beginning of the XVII century. This group of consecrated women has put on sale different items, which they themselves made in order to raise funds for the said project.

On the following day, the Thanksgiving Mass was presided by the Archbishop of Pamplona and Tudela, Msgr. Francisco Pérez González, accompanied by twenty-four priests, among whom were Javier Guerra, the Prior General of the Order of Augustinian Recollects, and Jesus Lanao, the religious in-charge of the Augustinian Recollect Nuns.
