This Provincial Chapter, presided by the Prior General, Miguel Miro, is celebrated under the theme “Revitalize with Joy the Community. May my joy be with you and your joy may be complete”: a paraphrase of the words of Jesus according to John 15, 11, within the context of the Year of the Consecrate Life.
The Province of St. Rita of Cassia
The birth of this province was way back at the start of the 20th century, when from Spain several groups of Augustinian Recollects travelled to Brasil, expelled from the Philippines after its independence, towards the year 1898.
The Province of St. Rita de Cassia is one of the three provinces of OAR in Brasil and is composed of 54 Brasilians. These religious are spread in 11 communities which attend to 11 parishes in the State of Espiritu Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, south of the country.
Aside from its parochial ministry, this province has two seminaries: one in Franca (SP), where the aspiring students in philosophy study; and the House of Formation in Sta. Monica, for young religious, in Sao Paulo.
The province of St. Rita is among the “young” among the provinces of the Order, with an average age of not more than 50 years. And in the recent times rely in young religious, bringing about between them intense vocational promotion, which undoubtedly will render its fruits.
